Gothenburg is one of the most wonderful, and the second largest, city in Sweden. Located on the west coast at the mouth of the Göta River. Received city status in 1621. Strategically located for car trips between Norway and Denmark, if you are not captivated by the area which has a wonderful coastline with islets and reefs.

HISTORY

Gothenburg is Sweden's second largest city, located in Västra Götaland County. Founded in 1621.

Volvo is headquartered in Gothenburg.

You will find several famous tourist attractions in central Gothenburg. Ullevi football arena, Scandinavium hockey hall, Gothia Towers skyscrapers, Universum science museum and Liseberg amusement park.

Outside Gothenburg in the Kattegat is the archipelago with many small islands which also consist of twelve nature reserves in the Gothenburg region.

The city is called "Little London" and "Sweden's front page". It was industrialized by Scots and English in the 19th century and had a large trade with Great Britain. This left a big mark on the city.

MOBILITY

Smart City in 2016.

Europe's most exciting investment in mobility, AI and autonomous vehicles.

Got the first self-driving bus in 2016. The bus project is part of the Swedish government's innovation program and is partly funded by Vinnova through Drive Sweden.

LIMA - smart mobility at Lindholmen Science Park, an old shipyard area in Gothenburg, has become one of the city's largest workplaces where 25,000 employees and students travel to and from every day between a number of mobility points. Move About stands for car sharing.

As of December 2020, 157 new electric buses and Volvo will be in operation in Gothenburg and the surrounding area, powered by ABB charging infrastructure solutions. There will be a total of 220 electric buses in operation that will transport Gothenburg's residents and visitors emission-free at the end of the year.

19 new charging stations will be set up in the second half of 2020, before the buses are put on schedule. The electric buses will be fast-charged with pantographs of 450 kW, a modular solution for high-power charging of heavy vehicles from ABB.

After Gothenburg, we will run rally stages in areas around SMØGEN and FJÄLLBACKA.
